Iran filmmaker Farnoush Samadi to join jury at Valladolid fest

The SEMINCI – Valladolid Int’l Film Festival in Spain picks Iranian filmmaker Farnoush Samadi as jury member.

The SEMINCI – Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain has selected Iranian filmmaker Farnoush Samadi to join the Meeting Point jury.

The other members of the jury are Spanish director José Luis Montesinos and Argentinean actress Romina Paula.

The Meeting Point is a section dedicated to first and second fiction films.

Born in 1983, Samadi is a young Iranian film director who has so far made a number of successful works such as ‘Gaze’, ‘The Silence’, ‘Disappearance’, and ‘More than Two Hours’.

In year 2018, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) selected Samadi as a member.

Samadi has already been on jury panels at a number of global events including, the Linz International Film Festival in Austria, the International Migration Film Festival – GAZIANTEP in Turkey, the Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival in Portugal and the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.

Her debut feature ‘180° Rule’ won awards at global events such as the Beirut International Women’s Film Festival in Lebanon, the SEMINCI – Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain, and the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The 2021 edition of the SEMINCI will host several Iranian movies, including ‘The Son’, ‘A Hero’, ‘Ballad of a White Cow’, and ‘Hit the Road’.

The latest edition of the event is slated for October 23-30.
